Sergey specialises in complex cross-border disputes, international
investment and commercial arbitration, and sanctions. He represents both
sovereigns and investors in investment disputes, acts for clients in ad hoc
arbitration and under the rules of all major institutions, in maritime
disputes, and in litigation before the courts of Canada, Europe, India, Russia,
Switzerland, the UK, Bermuda and the US. His experience includes coordinating the
defence of the Russian Federation in investment arbitrations and related proceedings for over US$70 billion. He acts
as an arbitrator. Prior to joining BGP Litigation, he worked for international law
firms in Russia and the USA as an external counsel and as an in-house lawyer
for public and private clients, including one of the Russian Forbes leaders.
Sergey graduated with merit from the Faculty of Law at Moscow State
University and obtained his LL.M. degree from Pepperdine University School of
Law (California, USA). Admitted to practice in Russia and New York. He has been awarded
the RAA40 Top 10 Young Arbitration Practitioners award and is a listed
arbitrator of the Russian Arbitrators Guide.
